Born in Düsseldorf, Germany September 14th, 1959
The story is that the summer was unbearable hot and my mother suffered a great lot, the guilt came with birth.
School: 1965 to 1978 Abitur Albert Einstein Gymnasium
Yeah a whole lot of school, cannot remember what the hell I learned there but I was happy to leave.
Chile: 1978 to 1979
Did an internship in a copper mine over there, it was interesting but I was too young and shy to really take advantage of the country and the freedom. Turned out to be an ok time in my memory
Civildienst 1980 to 1982
Yes, I had the privilege of getting in writing from the German Government that I'm unfit to kill and are much better use to society by delivering food to the elderly. And they wanted me for 18 month! I actually had the best time doing that, made a great friend and have some fun stories.
FH Detmold 1983 to 1987
Here I studied Interior Architecture, made good friends and got a sense of myself, learned a lot about design, furniture, architecture and art.
USA 1988 to....
Moved to California’s Bay Area January 1988, the best and most important change in my life. Finally came out 100%, found a job, friends and a life away from the restrictions I believed Germany stood for. Never had any problems to feel right at home in California.
Bay Window Coverings
The first company: Sold window coverings from a small store on San Pablo Ave, Berkeley CA. I think I did something right, even years after that business closed I still get calls from customers. The business was very labor intensive and the biggest challenge was to find employees that could work in this custom environment. I had two different partners, with the last one I opened:
The Magazine
Importing and selling modern European furniture. FH Detmold was good for something after all. The business grew very fast to 2 stores, the dot-com boom helped a lot, and than after 9-11 everything became difficult and impossible. First the San Francisco store closed, the Berkeley store scaled back in personnel and space. I sold my share in the business in July 2007.

Art
Started welding in the fall of 2005. It became an obsession right away, once I found my medium I finally could start to express what I had learned in the last 25 years in schools, museums, during travel, from people and my in dreams.
I concentrate on the human body in a modern interpretation of the classic art of sculpture
